Across the ages, it has inspired composers from around the globe with its rich timbre and astonishing expressivity. This program explores contemporary soundscapes from Asia, North America, Africa and Europe. Recorder player Sophie Larivière joins Flûte Alors! to perform the music of Mary Ellen Childs, Maki Ishii, Matthias Maute, Chiel Meijering, and Sören Sieg.

You are cordially invited to meet Baldassare Castiglione, the original Renaissane Man! Hit time spent at the magnificent court of Urbino inspired him to write The Book of the Courtier (1528), which teaches us to cultivate la sprezzatura at all times and in all places! Music by Cicona, Binchois, Dufay, Gabrieli and Caccini for voice, recorders, viols, harp, cornetto and percussions will accompany theater and dance.
