The “Extremes” concert, which will inaugurate the ensemble’s 17th Montreal season, will explore a diversity of extremes — temporal, geographical, rhythmic and instrumental. For the occasion, the quartet will welcome Canadian-Iranian percussionist and composer Ziya Tabassian. The program will bring together very old works and contemporary creations, illustrating all the breadth and contrasts of the Western classical repertoire for recorder.

The term “murmuration” means to speak in a low voice and also refers to the spectacular groupings of birds in flight. This program will bring together some of the most beautiful vocal and instrumental works of the Renaissance as well as pieces referencing birds to offer a concert where poetry and wonder come together.

The concert “LA vie, l’amour, la mort” will weave links between works from the Renaissance, the Baroque, folk and popular songs from Quebec, around the three universal themes evoked in a song by Félix Leclerc: life, love and death. Five centuries of French-language music will be explored as part of this project. For this project, FA! will join forces with soprano Catherine St-Arnaud, an artist known for the richness and versatility of her interpretation.
